Court Partially Grants Injunction for Examinees
Yonsei University Requests Second Trial Ruling via Immediate Appeal
Examinees Proceed with Joint Lawsuit Demanding Retake Exam
Yonsei University immediately filed an interlocutory appeal against the court's decision to suspend the effectiveness of the 2025 academic year early admission natural sciences essay exam.
According to the legal community on the 20th, Yonsei University submitted the interlocutory appeal on the same day after the Seoul Western District Court Civil Division 21 (Chief Judge Jeon Boseong) dismissed the objection to the provisional injunction. This means that Yonsei University does not accept the court's provisional injunction suspending the effectiveness of the essay exam and intends to have the matter reconsidered in the second trial.
An interlocutory appeal can be filed within one week according to relevant laws. With Yonsei University submitting the appeal, the case records are expected to be transferred to the Seoul High Court. In provisional injunction cases, the High Court may or may not hold a hearing, but given the need for prompt handling in this matter, there is a possibility that a hearing date will be set.
Earlier, the Seoul Western District Court partially granted the provisional injunction filed by examinees, ordering the suspension of the announcement of successful candidates and subsequent procedures for the natural sciences essay exam. Subsequent procedures are expected to remain suspended until a ruling is made on the class action lawsuit demanding a retest.
