Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is actively adopting cutting-edge digital technology to assist residents in their convenient daily lives.

On the 20th, Gochang-gun held the '2024 Digital Town Construction Project Completion Ceremony' at the Gochang Agricultural Products Distribution Center (Gochang Live Studio). The Gochang Digital Town was selected last year in the 'Ministry of the Interior and Safety Digital Town Construction Contest' and was promoted with a total project cost of 1.119 billion KRW.

The core of Gochang Digital Town is 'improving the quality of life and increasing income for residents.' A smart healthcare system was established at 14 eup/myeon administrative welfare centers and the civil service office of the county office. This system allows any resident to receive basic tests such as body fat, blood pressure, and blood sugar at any time. With simple membership registration, health measurement data can be sent to a smartphone to check for changes. Additionally, by utilizing AI and big data, the system includes a function to diagnose the user's posture and provides customized exercise program prescriptions.

Along with this, video conferencing systems have been completed in the meeting rooms of each eup/myeon administrative welfare center, the county office meeting rooms, and the smart studio. Since Gochang-gun's area is larger than Seoul, a lot of time was spent traveling for meetings. With the video conferencing system in place, meetings of the residents' autonomy council and various social organizations can be held just by going to the local myeon office near their home. The county plans to operate non-face-to-face leisure welfare programs such as health lectures and quiz competitions using the smart studio.

The Gochang Smart Studio was remodeled from part of the first floor of the Gochang Agricultural Products Distribution Center. It is equipped with professional equipment and systems for live broadcasting of Gochang Market (online shopping mall). It consists of a kitchen-concept cooking studio and a one-person media room where individuals can plan, produce, and broadcast video content alone.

Shim Deok-seop, the governor of Gochang-gun, said, "Through this Digital Town Construction Project, we have laid the foundation to eliminate the digital gap in daily life and to open a new digital era together with the residents." He added, "We will continue to discover and introduce digital administrative services incorporating the latest information and communication technologies to improve residents' quality of life and lead digital innovation."
