Yoo Seung-min: "Yoon must change everything including his wife... Lee should step down as party leader until judicial risks are resolved"

"People View People Power Party More Strictly"
"Courts Must Filter Out Those Who Commit Illegal Acts, Politics Should Be Clean"
"Need to Consider Reducing Regular Admissions"

Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min expressed on the 20th that there is "no windfall benefit" regarding Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, receiving a suspended sentence in the first trial for violating the Public Official Election Act.

Appearing on CBS Radio, former lawmaker Yoo was asked about the political impact of Lee's judicial risk, to which he replied, "The public is asking President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife, as well as the People Power Party, if they are blameless," adding, "The public is likely viewing President Yoon and the People Power Party with stricter and harsher eyes. In that regard, the People Power Party needs to get its act together."

He said, "Recently, regarding Mrs. Kim Kun-hee, the special prosecutor was also rejected, everything was dismissed at the prosecution stage, and a strange swindler named Myung Tae-gyun appeared causing chaos, with all sorts of stories coming out," calling this "the public's suspicion of the prosecution's unfairness."

Regarding the trial result of Lee, former lawmaker Yoo said, "This is not something to be happy about," and added, "(There will be) more pressure from the public. Immediately, People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon and the party's lawmakers need to organize their thoughts on the special prosecutor law concerning Mrs. Kim Kun-hee." He stated, "I personally believe that Sergeant Chae and the special prosecutor law for Mrs. Kim should all be accepted, Mrs. Kim should be investigated, and the president should diligently carry out his presidential duties for the remainder of his term."

On the claim that accepting the special prosecutor law for Mrs. Kim could lead to impeachment, he said, "Would it go to President Yoon's impeachment or Mrs. Kim's impeachment?" and questioned, "If the president privatized power by intervening in nominations, state affairs, and personnel, ignoring this could make the president an accomplice, but in the current situation, if the special prosecutor is not accepted, can he serve the remaining two and a half years of his term?"

Regarding President Yoon's state affairs, he said, "Everyone, including his wife, needs to be changed," but clarified, "I'm not saying they should get a divorce." This underscores the urgent need to change the state affairs policy direction.

About Lee's trial, he said, "For the sake of the Democratic Party as well, it is right for Lee to quickly step down from the leadership position until his judicial risk is resolved." Regarding Lee's trial, he said, "It is a mechanism in our judicial system to filter out those who should not be involved in politics," adding, "The court should filter out those who committed such illegal acts to clean up politics."

On the medical crisis caused by the increase in medical school admissions, he expressed the opinion that the admission quota for next year should be adjusted. Former lawmaker Yoo said, "President Yoon should give up his insistence on increasing by 2,000," and added, "There are cases where early admissions are reduced or transferred to rolling admissions, but these transfers should be stopped, and the increased number should be limited to around 500 to 700." He continued, "Solving this issue (medical school quota expansion) is necessary to carry out pension reform and labor reform."
