Direct Lectures and Mentoring by Industry Digital Experts... 22 Universities in Busan Including Pusan National University Participate
Specialized Industry Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Problem-Solving Using Digital Technologies
Busan National University (President Choi Jae-won), as the leading university, along with 22 universities in the Busan area, is intensively implementing the "Digital Competency Enhancement Education for AI Transformation" program in November and December, aiming to cultivate talent to lead the digital transformation era.
Busan Shared University (BITS) is a shared university established through the Busan Regional Innovation Platform (BRIP) local government-university cooperation-based Regional Innovation Project (RIS), with the participation of 22 universities in the Busan area (15 universities offering interdisciplinary major curricula and 7 universities offering non-curricular programs). It operates curricula tailored to regional industrial demands by breaking down barriers between departments.
This non-curricular program of Busan Shared University, consisting of over 20 lectures and practical sessions, is designed as a systematic and practical curriculum to nurture talent responsible for the digital transformation of Busan's future industries. Through special lectures, practical training, and project-based learning, it covers both theory and practice of digital technologies, supporting students and citizens to gain direct problem-solving experience in Busan's key industrial sectors.
All the diverse educational activities conducted from this month until the final hackathon presentation (December 23, 2024) take place at the Busan National University Humanities Building, the base lecture room of Busan Shared University. Thematic special lectures are provided as video lectures and can be accessed through the Busan Shared University non-curricular program website.
Starting with a mini hackathon on the 1st of this month, the education program includes special lectures on the digital transformation of regionally specialized industries, understanding and practical application of artificial intelligence, and exploring problem-solving methods through identifying daily life issues and utilizing digital technologies. Notably, digital experts with over 20 years of experience in their respective fields directly provide lectures and mentoring, offering practical, work-centered education beyond theoretical learning.
The curriculum deeply addresses the present and future of digital technologies, focusing on industrial sectors closely related to the Busan region such as manufacturing, environment, healthcare, and fashion. Additionally, expert special lectures allow participants to review real-world applications and prospects of digital technologies, and the introduction of project-based learning (PBL) strengthens practical problem-solving skills.
Hackathon participants undertake substantial projects through a five-week marathon practice and gain creative and practical experience while receiving customized mentoring from experts in each field.
Enrollment in the education program is open not only to university (graduate) students participating in the Busan RIS project but also to the general public.
