Cheonan City Sets 2024 Budget at 2.43 Trillion Won, Up 30 Billion Won

Cheonan City in Chungnam announced on the 20th that it has submitted a budget proposal of 2.43 trillion won for next year to the city council.


This is an increase of 30 billion won (1.2%) compared to this year's budget of 2.4 trillion won.


The general account increased by 35 billion won to 2.1 trillion won, while the special account decreased by 5 billion won to 330 billion won.


The city focused the budget proposal on revitalizing the local economy, securing innovative growth engines for future value, and expanding social welfare in response to demographic changes.


To boost the local economy, the city included 24 billion won for Cheonan Love Gift Certificate discount compensation and 4.2 billion won for financial and social insurance support for small business owners.


For securing growth engines, 14.8 billion won was allocated for the Smart City Hub Project and 11.5 billion won for land acquisition to expand the Cheonan 5 Foreign Investment Zone.


Incentives to encourage childbirth have also been expanded. A total of 11.1 billion won was set aside to expand birth celebration grants, transportation support for pregnant women, and the Cheonan-style postpartum care program, while 168.8 billion won was allocated for child protection and childcare support projects.


Additionally, 119.8 billion won was included for emergency welfare support for vulnerable groups and welfare projects for households facing financial difficulties, 4.5 billion won for the K-Culture Expo, 23 billion won for the supply of eco-friendly vehicles, and 4 billion won for the installation and management of security CCTV.


The budget proposal is scheduled to be finalized at the 274th 2nd regular session of the Cheonan City Council on December 20.


Cheonan Mayor Park Sangdon said, "Through next year's budget, we will enhance economic vitality and growth potential to create a new and hopeful Cheonan."
