Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced on the 20th that the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Telluride received awards in the '2025 Residual Value Awards (ALG Residual Value Awards)' announced by the U.S. market research firm J.D. Power.
J.D. Power's Residual Value is one of the important indicators that U.S. consumers consider when purchasing a car. It is calculated based on the expected used car price three years after the new car price, comprehensively considering factors such as used car performance, brand outlook, and product competitiveness.
The 2025 Residual Value Awards evaluated a total of 311 models across various categories.
In the electrified sport utility vehicle (SUV) category, which was added to the Residual Value Awards for the first time this year, the Hyundai Kona Electric was selected as the model with the highest residual value. The Kia Telluride was recognized for its product excellence by being selected as the highest residual value model in the three-row midsize SUV category.
A Hyundai Motor Company and Kia representative stated, "This award recognizes the excellent quality and product competitiveness of Hyundai and Kia in the U.S. market," adding, "We will continue to meet market expectations with models that customers can trust and choose with confidence."
Meanwhile, JD Power acquired ALG (Automotive Lease Guide), the most prestigious used car residual value evaluator in the U.S., in 2020. Under the direction of the ALG division, the Residual Value Awards are given annually to models expected to have the highest residual value in each vehicle segment for the following year.
