GS25 Collaborates with Nongshim to Launch 5 Banana Kick Dessert Varieties

First Convenience Store Industry Collaboration with Banana Kick IP
Maintaining Banana Kick Flavor... Changes in Texture and Packaging
"Adding Trendiness to a Long-Lasting Brand"

GS Retail's convenience store GS25 announced on the 20th that it will launch five new dessert products utilizing the 'Banana Kick' intellectual property (IP) through a strategic collaboration with Nongshim on the 21st.

Banana Kick, launched in 1978 and considered one of Nongshim's representative long-lasting brands, is collaborating with the convenience store industry for the first time. Previously, GS25 collaborated with food companies to release products such as Orion's 'Sun Daepak Cream Cheese' and Lotte Wellfood's 'Kancho Tart'.

The Banana Kick Ssok Long Cookie Choux features a crispy exterior combined with sweet cream by filling cookie choux with Banana Kick flavored cream. The Choco Banana Kick Ssok Chapssaltteok is filled with Banana Kick flavored cream and chocolate inside chapssaltteok (glutinous rice cake). The Banana Kick Macaron Pie is a large-sized macaron shell coated with banana-flavored chocolate and filled with Banana Kick flavored filling.

The Banana Kick Fresh Cream Donut contains Banana Kick flavored cream inside the donut bread, topped with banana-flavored chocolate and crunchy toppings. Lastly, the Choco Banana Kick Fresh Cream Bread is made with brioche bread filled with Banana Kick flavored fresh cream containing banana puree and cocoa filling. These new products will also be available at GS The Fresh, a supermarket operated by GS Retail, later this month.

Before this collaboration, both companies set a goal to target loyal customers who love Banana Kick as well as 'fun consumers' seeking enjoyable consumption experiences. To achieve this, they planned the products under a 'spin-off' concept?diversifying shapes, textures, and packaging while maintaining the original Banana Kick flavor.

GS25 and Nongshim plan to continue their strategic collaboration starting with this Banana Kick IP collaboration. GS25 expects to create a customer attraction effect based on differentiated product competitiveness, while Nongshim anticipates synergy by diversifying the customer age groups for its long-lasting brand.

Kim Young-jin, head of GS Retail's Product Strategy Team, said, "By adding trendiness to a long-loved representative food brand, we expect to offer customers a unique consumption experience. Collaborations with food companies and IP partnerships are excellent opportunities to strengthen differentiated product competitiveness and further attract customers. GS Retail will continue to actively seek collaboration plans."
