This commemorative event was jointly promoted by the Uijeongbu Childcare Support Center (Director Jo Sang-won) and the Uijeongbu Daycare Center Association (President Song Eun-hee) under the slogan “Adding Love with Our Hands.”
In the first part, child rights education was provided to daycare center directors in the area. The second part included awards for contributors to child abuse prevention and winners of a short video (short-form) contest, a pledge to respect children's rights, a performance to eradicate child abuse, a report on achievements, and video screenings.
Especially at this event, a ceremony was held to deliver the signatures collected through a six-month-long child rights respect signature relay campaign (with participation from 180 daycare centers and 5,455 Uijeongbu citizens). In line with the slogan “Adding Love with Our Hands,” all attendees shared a meaningful time performing the child abuse eradication performance together.
The city plans to conduct a joint street campaign for child abuse prevention titled “Let’s Help Each Other!” and a child-participatory mobile campaign called “Reading the Heart” until the 25th of this month, in observance of Child Abuse Prevention Week.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, “To realize a city where children are happy, children’s safety must be ensured and their rights respected. This requires the interest and effort of all of us. I ask everyone to continue protecting children with our hands and adding love. Uijeongbu City will also strive to implement the best policies for children.”
