The Gyeonggi Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters selected Yedam Nursing Hospital in Munsan-eup, Paju City, as an ‘Outstanding Facility for Safety Management in Elderly Care Facilities’ and held a commendation ceremony and plaque unveiling with the Governor of Gyeonggi Province on the 19th.

The ‘Outstanding Facility Selection System for Safety Management in Elderly Care Facilities’ is a special policy of the Gyeonggi Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters, implemented since last year, and has selected and operated six outstanding facilities to date. This system aims to strengthen voluntary fire safety management in elderly care facilities in the northern Gyeonggi area, learning from past nursing hospital fire accidents that resulted in large-scale casualties. The main evaluation criteria include the adequacy of fire safety facilities, whether self-conducted fire drills are held, and the efforts of facility personnel in fire prevention.

The event was attended by Hong Jang-pyo, head of the Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the chief of Paju Fire Station, and others, who presented the governor’s commendation and unveiled the plaque together with the nursing hospital officials. Yedam Nursing Hospital will display the ‘Outstanding Facility’ plaque for the next two years.

Gyeonggi Province expects that this commendation will serve as an opportunity for elderly care facility personnel to recognize the importance of safety management once again and to strengthen voluntary efforts in fire safety management.
