Hwaseong-si Wins Encouragement Award in Gyeonggi-do City and County Agricultural Administration Evaluation

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 19th that it received the Encouragement Award at the city and county agricultural administration evaluation ceremony held during the '29th Gyeonggi Province Farmers' Day' event at Suwon Convention Center on the 18th.

The city and county agricultural administration evaluation is conducted annually by Gyeonggi Province in accordance with the 'Ordinance on the Promotion of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Improvement of the Quality of Life of Farmers and Fishermen in Gyeonggi Province.' It assesses the implementation status of agricultural policies in the 31 cities and counties within the province and awards outstanding local governments. The evaluation is divided into Group 1 for mixed urban-rural areas (16 cities and counties) and Group 2 for urban areas (15 cities and counties), proceeding through a first round of document review and a second round of verification by the provincial department in charge.

The main evaluation criteria for Group 1, which includes Hwaseong City, consist of a total of 33 indicators across ▲ agricultural policy ▲ agricultural product distribution and industry revitalization ▲ promotion of eco-friendly agriculture ▲ livestock policy ▲ animal protection ▲ and marine and fisheries sectors. Hwaseong City received high marks for initiatives such as the introduction of basic income for farmers, maintenance of agricultural support registers, and activation of local food direct stores, ranking 5th overall.

Jung Ji-young, Director of the Agricultural and Marine Affairs Bureau of Hwaseong City, stated, "We will continue to strengthen agricultural competitiveness by implementing policy projects that farmers can directly feel and benefit from."
