The Paju Child Protection Agency, with sponsorship from Hyundai Motor Group and support from the Community Chest of Korea and Good Neighbors, has started operating the ‘i-CARE CAR’ to provide counseling and psychological treatment support for abused children.

The ‘i-CARE CAR’ is a vehicle dedicated to counseling, remodeled to allow abused children to receive psychological counseling services in a safer and more comfortable space.

In particular, the space was designed with the goals of ▲ a ‘protected space’ where children can feel psychological stability ▲ a ‘focused space’ for concentrating on counseling ▲ and a ‘recovery space’ to aid healing.

Until now, in the northern mountainous and island areas of Paju (such as Papyeong-myeon, Beopwon-eup, Jeokseong-myeon), there have been difficulties in providing psychological counseling services due to inconveniences in using public transportation and other geographical limitations. However, with the implementation of the ‘i-CARE CAR,’ ‘visiting psychological services’ will be provided to abused children living in these mountainous and island areas of Paju.

As a result, abused children will be able to receive timely psychological counseling services regardless of location or region, which is expected to minimize the aftereffects of abuse and help restore psychological stability.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “I hope abused children can heal their hearts and regain psychological stability through counseling,” and added, “We will work together with the Child Protection Agency to create a Paju City free from abuse.”

The Paju Child Protection Agency is an institution entrusted by Paju City with tasks such as psychological treatment and case management for abused children, as well as child abuse education and campaign support.
