Inspection of 182 Large Outdoor Advertisements Over 10㎡ Including Rooftop Signs by December 5
Focused Inspection on Unauthorized Structural/Size Changes, Joint Conditions, Paint Status, and Cracks

Mapo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Gang-su) is conducting a safety inspection of large outdoor advertisements in preparation for the winter season until December 5.

This inspection is carried out to prevent safety accidents caused by damage or falling by pre-checking the structural safety of large advertisements that are constantly exposed outdoors and vulnerable to weather changes.

The inspection targets a total of 182 locations, including large advertisements with an area of 10㎡ or more that could cause human and property damage in case of an accident, rooftop signs, large electronic billboards, and designated banner posting stands.

The district has formed a joint inspection team with the Mapo-gu branch of the Seoul Outdoor Advertising Association to visit sites, check the condition of facilities, and carefully examine whether they comply with permit requirements and whether there have been unauthorized changes in structure or specifications.

Detailed inspection items include deformation of advertisements and posting facilities, condition of joints, painting and maintenance status, presence of cracks, and safety of electrical materials.

If minor issues are found during the inspection, they will be addressed immediately on site, and facilities with high accident risks will receive emergency measures followed by orders for repair and reinforcement to the managing entities to eliminate risk factors before the full onset of winter.

The district conducts regular safety inspections of outdoor advertisements twice a year, in the first and second halves, and inspected a total of 364 locations in the first half of this year, completing 4 repair and reinforcement actions.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, “Since large outdoor advertisements can cause enormous damage in the event of an accident, pre-inspection is more important than anything else,” and added, “We will do our best to protect the safety and property of residents through thorough safety management.”
