Rootfinders, Seomjae Win CES 2025 Innovation Award
Recognized for Accessibility, Mobile Devices & Apps Technology
Third Award-Winning Company Following 2022 Best Innovation and 2024 Innovation Awards
Startup companies within Gwanak S Valley have once again won Innovation Awards at the 2025 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2025), continuing Gwanak-gu’s (Mayor Park Junhee) reputation as a global innovation city.
Among the companies participating in CES 2025, recruited in cooperation with the Seoul Business Agency (SBA), two companies (Rootfinders, Seomjae) received the ‘CES Innovation Awards.’
With this, the district has solidified its position as a global startup hub by producing companies that have won Innovation Awards again, following the Grand Innovation Award in 2022 and Innovation Awards in 2024.
CES is the world’s largest information technology and electronics exhibition held every January in Las Vegas, USA, organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). Established in 1976, the ‘CES Innovation Awards’ are given to companies showcasing the most innovative technologies and products.
Among the award-winning companies, Rootfinders won in the ‘Accessibility & AgeTech’ category, and Seomjae achieved the Innovation Award in the ‘Mobile Devices, Accessories & Apps’ category.
These companies are scheduled to showcase their award-winning innovative technologies and products at the ‘Gwanak S Valley Pavilion’ during CES 2025, held next January.
These achievements are the ‘fruits of efforts’ by the district government, which has been promoting the ‘Gwanak S Valley’ project since the 7th local government term to break away from the image of a bedroom community and secure future growth industries.
In particular, the district expects to take a step forward as a city leading youth startups and technological innovation through ▲designation as a Venture Business Promotion Zone in 2022 ▲selection for Seoul’s Southwest Balanced Development Project in 2023 ▲designation as a Special Development Zone target area in 2024.
In June, the district, together with the Seoul Business Agency (SBA), recruited innovative companies to participate in CES 2025. Following eight companies operating booths at the ‘Gwanak S Valley Pavilion’ during CES 2024, ten companies will have the opportunity to participate in CES 2025.
The district supports confirmed participating companies by covering costs for Innovation Award applications, as well as various expenses for cargo transportation and prototype production necessary for CES participation.
Additionally, to enhance exhibition outcomes and successful overseas expansion of participating companies’ products, various programs are provided, including ▲1:1 matching with university student supporters ▲business matching ▲media promotion ▲global pitching days.
Mayor Park Junhee said, “I am pleased that our efforts to become a Korean-style Silicon Valley have borne fruit this year with international recognition through the CES Innovation Awards,” and added, “We will continue to provide focused support so that more excellent companies can enter the global market through ‘Gwanak S Valley,’ the cradle of venture startups.”
