Enhancing Rapid Response, Rescue, and First Aid Skills in Emergency Situations
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byung-jin) conducted ‘Rescue and First Aid’ training for employees to enable prompt response in emergency situations.
The training was held over two days, on the 11th and 18th, targeting approximately 250 employees. It aimed to strengthen their rescue and first aid capabilities so that staff can take appropriate actions within the golden time during emergencies at work.
The training covered ▲ the necessity of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) ▲ basic first aid procedures ▲ age-specific CPR and emergency response actions ▲ use of automated external defibrillators (AED) and airway obstruction treatment, designed for immediate practical application on site.
The corporation expects that this training will secure the golden time for citizen safety during emergencies and help prevent major accidents.
According to internal statistics, in 2024, there were a total of 16 cases where CPR and AED were administered to citizens who lost consciousness while using the urban railway, and after treatment, they were transported to hospitals via 119 emergency services.
Lee Byung-jin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, “As the urban railway is used by many citizens, we will contribute to protecting citizens’ lives and safety by enhancing employees’ rescue and first aid skills through this training, securing the golden time in emergencies.”
Although the corporation is not obligated to install AEDs, it completed installing AEDs at all stations in July this year to ensure initial response in emergencies and manages them regularly for the safety of urban railway users.
