[Featured Stock] Woori Technology Aims for 'Technology Monopoly' in Trump-Driven SMR Boom... Breakthrough Achieved

First SMR Sector Order Based on Exclusive Nuclear Technology
"Development of MMIS Module for SMR through National Project"

Woori Technology is showing strong performance. The news that it has signed a supply contract worth 6.9 billion KRW for a ‘Non-Safety System DCS (Distributed Control System)’ with Doosan Enerbility appears to be influencing its stock price. Through this order, Woori Technology will supply DCS for SMRs (Small Modular Reactors).

Recently, Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, proposed a policy to promote the nuclear power industry centered on SMRs during the presidential election, drawing attention to SMRs. Last month, Google signed a power purchase agreement for 500MW with an SMR company. Amazon also signed an SMR development contract with an energy company, accelerating SMR development and investment led by big tech companies.

As of 1:48 PM on the 18th, Woori Technology is trading at 2,395 KRW, up 10.37% from the previous trading day.

Woori Technology, based on its exclusive domestic technology in the nuclear power plant DCS field, is the sole supplier of Measurement, Monitoring, and Information Systems (MMIS) for all types of nuclear power plants. DCS is a system that integrally manages the operation, control, monitoring, and measurement of nuclear power plants. Woori Technology also signed supply contracts worth over 60 billion KRW related to DCS for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4, whose recent completion has been confirmed.

Starting from this supply contract, Woori Technology’s SMR-related order achievements are expected to accelerate. Based on its exclusive supply references for nuclear power plant control equipment, Woori Technology is participating in various national SMR projects. Following continuous participation in government-led SMR development projects, it was selected as a participating institution for two ‘Innovative Small Modular Reactor (i-SMR)’ technology development projects consecutively in May this year.

A Woori Technology official explained, "We are supplying nuclear power plant control equipment applied to small reactors," and added, "We plan to deliver DCS suitable for small reactors." They further stated, "Along with supplying control systems for small nuclear power plants, we will develop and localize MMIS modules for SMRs through national projects."

Additionally, the official introduced, "Globally, nuclear power plants and SMRs are gaining attention as the most suitable response to the rapid increase in power demand caused by AI data centers," and said, "We will strengthen our technological capabilities by independently developing MMIS equipment suitable for next-generation nuclear SMRs and maximize our competitiveness in domestic and international orders."
