Presentation of Next Year's Military Administration Direction at the Regular Parliamentary Session

On this day, Governor Kim said, "During the first two years of the 8th elected term, I did my best with the spirit of Saseokwiho (射石爲虎), which means thinking of a stone as a tiger and shooting an arrow, and the arrow pierced the stone, achieving some results." He added, "In 2025, the Year of the Blue Snake, I will work tirelessly, wearing out my shoes meeting with the National Assembly, central government ministries, and businesspeople to make Yeoncheon a place overflowing with prosperity."
Governor Kim highlighted this year's major achievements as ▲Satisfactory transportation access (opening of the Metropolitan Subway Line 1 and the alternative bypass road for National Road No. 3, opening of Local Road No. 371 connecting Jeokseong and Du-il) ▲Lifelong welfare (designation as the only Second Home Special Zone in Gyeonggi Province, attracting the Northern Campus of Gyeonggi Fire Academy, selection as a leading area for educational development special zones) ▲Industrial convergence (laying the foundation for designation as an opportunity development special zone, smooth progress of the Green Bio Cluster project, attracting the Northern Agricultural R&D Center of the Gyeonggi Agricultural Technology Institute) ▲Preservation and tourism (increase in visitors, attracting the Seoul Pet Theme Park and Memorial Hall, selection of Amicheon Dam as a candidate site for a climate response dam).
Looking ahead to the 2025 county administration direction, he proposed ▲early commencement of the Seoul-Yeoncheon Expressway ▲construction of a comprehensive funeral facility to resolve inconveniences caused by traveling far for services ▲development of the Edu-Healthcare Center as the best school complex and community convenience facility ▲attracting a national veterans comprehensive welfare facility ▲groundbreaking of the National Yeoncheon Memorial Cemetery ▲creating a prosperous rural area that attracts youth ▲addressing rural aging and agricultural product distribution issues ▲strengthening livestock industry competitiveness and completely blocking outbreaks of livestock infectious diseases ▲promotion of the Yeoncheon Paleolithic EXPO ▲creation of the Yeoncheon World Peace Garden ▲developing Jaein Waterfall as a national representative tourist destination of Korea.
The total budget for Yeoncheon County next year is 624.4 billion KRW, which is a 1.81% increase from this year's main budget of 613.3 billion KRW.
Governor Kim Deok-hyun stated, "Although the war in Ukraine and the participation of North Korean troops cast a dark shadow over security and the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and the domestic economy is facing many difficulties due to recession, as the saying Wonhaengijung (遠行以衆) goes, 'If you want to go far, you must go together by pooling strength.' In 2025, the executive branch, Yeoncheon County Council, and about 40,000 residents will unite their efforts and run together toward the goals of 'Yeoncheon County development' and 'achieving a living population of 10 million by 2030.'"
