Goryeong-gun Hosts Regular Performance 'Donghaeng' by County Gayageum Ensemble

The Goryeong County Gayageum Ensemble (Music Director Kang Mi-sun) held its 9th regular concert, "Companionship," on the evening of the 15th at Daegaya Cultural Nuri Ureuk Hall.

Founded in 2015, the Goryeong County Gayageum Ensemble consists of 16 members, including Music Director Kang Mi-sun. The group engages in various activities such as nationwide touring performances every year and plans and hosts regular concerts with new content annually.

This concert featured a rich performance as an exchange music concert centered on the Goryeong County Gayageum Ensemble, along with the Gimcheon City Gugak Orchestra and the Gyeongju City Silla Traditional Wind Orchestra.

The program captivated the audience’s eyes and ears with diverse pieces, starting with "Millennium Myth Inspiration," followed by the 25-string Gayageum concerto "Bangatareong," and the traditional folk song "Gangwon song" arranged for gugak orchestra.

In particular, the special appearances by famous sorikkun (traditional Korean vocalists) Jang Sa-ik and yanggeum player Park Joo-hwa exquisitely blended Korea’s unique melodies with the gayageum’s tunes, further elevating the concert’s atmosphere.

County Governor Lee Nam-chul said, “I am pleased to bring joy and emotion to the residents through today’s performance,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that the people of Goryeong County can enjoy a happy cultural life through various performances.”
