The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Yang Jae-saeng) will hold the '42nd Busan Industry Awards' ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on the 19th in the Sangui Hall of Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Busan Industry Awards, established in 1983, have become the most prestigious awards given to local entrepreneurs. Every year, the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry selects and honors outstanding businesspeople who have made significant achievements in the development of local commerce and industry in various fields.
This year as well, the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a separate judging committee to select the recipients of the Busan Industry Awards, choosing winners in three categories: management, technology, and social contribution.
The winners by category are ▲ Management: Jung Won-young, CEO of Samyoung MT ▲ Technology: Lee Jwa-young, Chairman of Unitecno ▲ Social Contribution: Ryu Won-gi, Chairman of Hantop.
Jung Won-young, CEO of Samyoung MT in the management category, has been recognized for his efforts in research and development and technological advancement over 35 years since founding Samyoung MT in 1991, achieving export results of $4.3 billion to date, and fulfilling corporate social responsibility based on ESG management.
Lee Jwa-young, Chairman of Unitecno in the technology category, succeeded in domestic production of home ESS (Energy Storage System) parts that were previously imported through active technology development, and continuous investment in research and development and human resources in the automotive parts industry led to this award.
Ryu Won-gi, Chairman of Hantop in the social contribution category, was highly evaluated for his regular support for vulnerable groups in the region and various scholarship projects, actively returning corporate profits to society and taking the lead in the development of the local community.
Yang Jae-saeng, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, "I congratulate the awardees who have shown outstanding achievements for the development of the local commerce and industry sector despite difficult domestic and international conditions such as the deepening economic recession and expanding global uncertainties this year." He added, "The Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue to do its best to create a business-friendly environment so that local companies can grow into globally competitive enterprises through innovation and business restructuring."
The awards ceremony is expected to be attended by about 110 people, including Yang Jae-saeng, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Ahn Seong-min, Chairman of the Busan City Council, and major local businesspeople.
On the morning of the 18th at 10 a.m., the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry also held a 'Special Merit Award' ceremony in the conference room on the 5th floor of Dongwon Development.
The Special Merit Award was established by the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry to widely publicize the achievements of businesspeople who have devoted themselves to the development of the local community. This year, the awardee is Jang Bok-man, Chairman of Dongwon Development, who has walked the path of construction for 49 years.
Jang Bok-man, the selected awardee, not only grew Dongwon Development into a construction company representing South Korea beyond the region but also led activities to return corporate profits to society, carrying out various contribution projects for community development such as scholarship programs and support projects for vulnerable groups.
Jang Bok-man, Chairman of Dongwon Development, said, "I am infinitely grateful to receive the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Special Merit Award, and I wish for the success and development of businesspeople who are working hard for the development of local industry and the Busan economy despite the difficult economic environment."
