On the 20th, conducted separately by Wontong and Baekdam zones in the morning and afternoon
Inje-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Choi Sang-gi), announced on the 18th that it will hold a resident briefing session on the station area development project on the 20th in preparation for the opening of the Dongseo High-Speed Railway Chuncheon~Sokcho section in 2027.
The briefing sessions will be held separately by region: the Wontong area session will take place at 10 a.m. on November 20th at the Wontong Comprehensive Welfare Town, and the Baekdam area session will be held at 2 p.m. on the same day at the Yongdae 2-ri Village Hall.
The briefing will proceed with an explanation of the project plans promoted by the county to revitalize the local economy, improve residential conditions, and activate tourism in preparation for the railway opening, followed by a Q&A session.
Inje-gun is promoting station area development projects by region. In the Wontong area, projects include △ the creation of Inje Wontong Station plaza and parking lot, △ the opening of Inje Wontong Station county-planned roads, △ improvement of roads and bridges around the station area, △ maintenance of the Wontongcheon small stream, △ urban regeneration and landscape beautification projects in Buk-myeon, and △ the establishment of youth and retiree villages in the Wontong-Wolhak district.
The main station area development projects in the Baekdam area include △ the creation of a public parking lot in front of Inje Baekdam Station, △ installation of a pedestrian overpass and a rotary intersection in front of Inje Baekdam Station, △ the youth rural settlement ‘Kkotboda Yongdae Stay,’ △ the creation of Yongdae local garden, and △ the establishment of a smart tourism city. The total investment scale for the station area development projects in both the Wontong and Baekdam areas amounts to approximately 760 billion KRW.
An official from Inje-gun stated, “We are preparing development projects around the station area so that the railway opening can serve as a new vitality and future growth engine for the region,” and added, “We hope this briefing session will help residents understand and share their opinions.”
