Goyang City Holds 2024-2025 Road Snow Removal Kickoff Ceremony
Minimizing Citizen Inconvenience through Thorough Preparation of Snow Removal Equipment and Materials
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 18th that it held the ‘2024~2025 Goyang City Road Snow Removal Kick-off Ceremony’ at the Goyang City Snow Removal Forward Base (near KINTEX) on the 15th and conducted a final inspection of the snow removal preparations.

At this kick-off ceremony, about 100 people including Lee Jeong-hwa, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Goyang Special City, Kim Mi-kyung, Chairperson of the Construction and Transportation Committee of Goyang City Council, the Disaster Response Division, Road Management Division, Safety and Construction Divisions of three district offices, and snow removal equipment contractors attended. They held a safety prayer ceremony and checked the normal operation of snow removal equipment, equipment demonstrations, and guidelines for precautions during snow removal agent spreading, making thorough preparations for safe snow removal operations.
The city plans to expand snow removal operations not only on the total 804 km of roads and 1,563 statutory road routes but also on village roads to strengthen road safety this winter.
To this end, the city will operate four dispatch bases and six forward bases to quickly deploy snow removal equipment in case of heavy snowfall, securing about 20,000 tons of snow removal agents and 517 snow removal equipment units to establish a seamless road snow removal system.
Deputy Mayor Lee Jeong-hwa said, "We will do our best to ensure citizens’ safety through prompt and proactive snow removal measures,” and added, “We also ask citizens to participate in clearing snow in front of their homes and stores during the winter season.”
Kim Mi-kyung, Chairperson of the Construction and Transportation Committee of Goyang City Council, said, "I hope to create a safe and convenient winter road environment through thorough snow removal preparations and forecasts,” and added, “The Goyang City Council will not spare budgetary and policy support necessary for snow removal operations, and I hope that by working together, we can have a safe winter.”
Goyang City has set the snow removal period until March 20 of next year and plans to make every effort to ensure thorough snow removal measures.
