Jongno-gu Launches 'Focused Campaign for Preventing Alcohol-Related Harm'

Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) is conducting an "Alcohol Harm Prevention Intensive Campaign" this month to improve drinking culture and create an environment for moderate drinking.


In celebration of the Alcohol Harm Prevention Month designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the campaign consists of an alcohol harm prevention campaign targeting students and a social networking service (SNS) event encouraging residents to practice moderate drinking.

Jongno-gu Launches 'Focused Campaign for Preventing Alcohol-Related Harm' Jongno-gu conducted an alcohol goggles experience and smoking prevention education for students of Cheongun Middle School on the 6th. Provided by Jongno-gu.

On the 6th, a session was held to inform about the dangers of drinking for about 250 students at Cheongun Middle School. On that day, students wore virtual drinking goggles and walked between traffic cones to indirectly experience the cognitive decline caused by drinking. They also compared lung models of smokers and non-smokers and participated in OX quizzes to feel the risks of drinking and smoking.


Jongno-gu plans to continue the alcohol harm prevention campaign at Daesin Middle School and Sangmyung University Affiliated Middle School until next month. Additionally, in collaboration with the Korea Health Promotion Institute, a relay event encouraging moderate drinking will be held for Jongno-gu residents.


During November, residents who upload photos of enjoying a healthy daily life instead of drinking alcohol on Instagram with hashtags will be entered into a draw to receive various prizes. For more details, please check the Jongno-gu Office website and blog.


Meanwhile, Jongno-gu is also making efforts to help residents succeed in quitting smoking as well as practicing moderate drinking. The "Visiting Smoking Cessation Clinic" operated by the district is divided into the "Regional Smoking Cessation Clinics" held at the 1st to 5th Health and Wellness Service Centers and the "Mobile Smoking Cessation Clinic," where counselors visit workplaces for busy office workers.
