POSCO E&C's 'Concrete Joint Surface Irregularity Creation Robot' Wins CES Innovation Award

POSCO E&C announced on the 17th that the 'Concrete Construction Joint Surface Texture Generation Robot,' jointly developed with smart construction specialist IT One, received the Innovation Award in the robotics category at the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, CES 2025.

POSCO E&C's 'Concrete Joint Surface Irregularity Creation Robot' Wins CES Innovation Award

CES is organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) in the United States, providing insights into the latest global market changes and technology trends. Awards are given to products and services that receive high evaluations based on technology, design, and innovation.

This robot creates surface textures on partially cured concrete to enhance bonding strength between layers in thick concrete works that require multi-layer pouring, such as dams, bridges, and ultra-high-rise building foundations. It can reduce the time required by up to 85% compared to manual work and produce uniform surface textures. Additionally, it allows workers to operate safely without the risk of injury from exposed rebar.

POSCO E&C also received the Innovation Award in the complex and housing sector at the 'Smart Construction Challenge' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport this year using this robot. A POSCO E&C official stated, "We will continue to develop smart construction technologies and actively apply them on-site to expand a construction culture based on smart construction."
