"License Plate on Top of License Plate"... Paper License Plate Trick to Save Parking Fees Exposed A foreign car printed a paper license plate and attached it over the front license plate. The rear license plate was left untouched. JTBC 'Sageon Banjang'

On the 17th, JTBC's 'Case Manager' reported that a resident named A in an apartment complex in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, witnessed a vehicle with an abnormal license plate in the underground parking lot. It was none other than a foreign car that had a paper license plate printed and attached over the front license plate. The rear license plate was left untouched.

When Mr. A checked through the management office, it was revealed to be a 'trick' to park a vehicle not registered in the apartment. The foreign car had falsely attached the license plate of a vehicle registered in the apartment.

The apartment is known to charge parking fees differentially according to the number of vehicles per household. After the management regulations were revised last March, the parking fee increased significantly to 10,000 won for two vehicles and 100,000 won from three vehicles onward.

Mr. A claimed that the car owner seemed to have used this trick to save on parking fees. He emphasized, "I heard that a vehicle that secretly parked by using a license plate trick was registered in the apartment," adding, "Although the parking fees have increased significantly recently, shouldn't we all follow the rules we set together?"

Netizens who saw this expressed outrage with comments such as, "Driving an expensive car but stingy about parking fees," "This is not a trick but a crime," "They seem unable to distinguish between money that should be saved and money that should not," and "Add the charge of being despicable."

Additionally, Mr. A has reported the car owner to the police on suspicion of violating the Automobile Management Act. According to Article 10, Paragraph 5 of the Automobile Management Act, covering or making the registered license plate difficult to recognize can result in imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won.
