Democratic Party's Outdoor Rally: Ruling Party Says "Rejecting Lee Jae-myung's Guilty Verdict... The Price is People's Judgment"

"Lee Jae-myung's Bulletproof Rally, a Path to Digging His Own Grave"

On the 16th, the People Power Party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea for holding their third outdoor rally, saying, "(Regarding Representative Lee Jae-myung's guilty verdict) rather than reflecting, they are continuing a 'judge intimidation' protest."

On the same day, spokesperson Kim Hye-ran stated in a commentary, "The Democratic Party, denying the guilty verdict and taking to the streets, will face the judgment of the people for destroying the rule of law."

Democratic Party's Outdoor Rally: Ruling Party Says "Rejecting Lee Jae-myung's Guilty Verdict... The Price is People's Judgment" On the afternoon of the 16th, an outdoor rally titled "3rd National Action Day to Condemn Kim Geon-hee and Yoon Seok-yeol's State Power Abuse and Demand a Special Investigation," hosted by the Democratic Party of Korea, is taking place near the north square of Gwanghwamun in Seoul. Spokesperson Kim emphasized the first trial court's ruling the previous day, sentencing Representative Lee to one year in prison with two years of probation, saying, "Despite the all-out pressure from the major opposition party, this ruling was made solely based on legal principles, evidence, and the conscience of the judge, and must be duly respected."

She continued, "Democratic Party lawmakers, who have taken it upon themselves to be Representative Lee's bodyguards, are denying the verdict by calling it 'political oppression' and 'judicial murder,' which is a blatantly unconstitutional remark that directly denies the judicial system of the Republic of Korea and insults the judiciary."

Assemblyman Kim Ki-hyun targeted Democratic Party lawmakers on Facebook, saying, "They are trying to encourage bulletproof rallies and act as bodyguards to protect 'Father Lee Jae-myung,' but that path will only lead to digging their own graves and self-destruction."

He added, "The heinous acts, like the 'wild sword dance,' which turned the party into a private faction to shield Lee and abused the National Assembly as a means to intimidate the judiciary, obviously became an aggravating factor in sentencing for defendant Lee Jae-myung."

Assemblywoman Na Kyung-won shared a column article on Facebook related to the whistleblowers and witnesses who led to the first trial guilty verdict against Representative Lee and his spouse, writing, "I once again feel grateful for the courage of ordinary public officials and their families."

She continued, "The incidents during the presidential election investigation involving Representative Lee, where people ended their lives under unbelievable circumstances and reasons, came to mind again. Among them is the late Kim Moon-gi, former head of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, who appears in this verdict. Shouldn't we try to resolve any possible grievances?"
