On December 10th, at the National Theater Haerum Theater
The National Theater will present the classical concert "Together, Vivaldi and Respighi" at the Haeoreum Theater on December 10.
To commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Italy, pieces by two Italian composers, Antonio Vivaldi and Ottorino Respighi, will be performed. The Italian Cultural Institute in Korea is sponsoring the event.
The first piece will be Vivaldi's representative work, the violin concerto "The Four Seasons." Following this, Respighi's "Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 3," well known as the music from the 2011 Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or-winning film "The Tree of Life," will be performed. This four-movement piece is an orchestral arrangement by Respighi of a lute music collection compiled in the 1880s by Italian musicologist and lute player Oscar Chilesotti.
The chamber orchestra Solisti Virtuosi, active in Europe, will perform alongside visually impaired violinist Kim Ji-seon and flutist Kim Hyun-sook, the principal flute of the Seoul Symphony Orchestra and a physically disabled musician.
Solisti Virtuosi is a group formed by 13 Italian performers, known for their wide-ranging repertoire that crosses eras and genres, and for the outstanding performances of each individual musician.
Kim Ji-seon is the first visually impaired musician to enter the instrumental department of Manhattan School of Music and complete her master's degree. In April this year, she performed Mendelssohn's violin concerto in the classical concert "2024 Together, Spring" presented by the National Theater. Kim Hyun-sook is a physically disabled flutist, leader of the Muse Ensemble, and a visiting professor at Namseoul University. She is also active as a music instructor for the Gyeonggi Province Physical Disability Association and participates steadily in social contribution activities, including performing in outreach concerts.
Tickets for this performance are priced at 10,000 KRW for all seats. Reservations can be made through the National Theater website or by phone.
