Nowon-gu to Promote 2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project Until February 14, 2025
Fundraising Goal Approximately 3.2 Billion KRW, Supporting Low-Income Residents' Livelihood, Housing, and Education Expenses
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced the unveiling ceremony of the Nowon-gu Love Thermometer for the ‘2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign.’
The unveiling ceremony was held to mark the start of the ‘2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ project and to encourage residents’ voluntary participation in fundraising, thereby spreading a culture of sharing and donation.
The Love Thermometer is an LED display measuring 1.5 meters wide and 4.65 meters tall. The temperature rises by 1 degree each time 30 million KRW, which is 1% of the fundraising goal, is collected. The fundraising target is approximately 3.2 billion KRW, and the fundraising activities will continue until February 14 of next year.
At the event, about 100 people including Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok, city and district council members, outstanding donors, and project collaborators attended. The program proceeded in the order of ▲congratulatory speeches ▲first donation delivery ceremony ▲appointment of promotional ambassadors ▲unveiling ceremony and commemorative photo ▲donation relay performance.
Jo Hyun-ho, president of the Nowon-gu Medical Association, announced the start of the Love Thermometer with a first donation of 10 million KRW. Following this, Lee Sang-bong, chairman of SB Global Healthcare, and Jo Hyun-ho, president of the Nowon-gu Medical Association, were appointed as promotional ambassadors for the Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign.
Meanwhile, the ‘2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ fundraising began last November with the unveiling of the Love Thermometer and exceeded the fundraising goal of 3.28 billion KRW by February 14 this year, raising a total of 3.4 billion KRW and achieving a Love Thermometer temperature of 100°. The donated goods were immediately distributed to low-income households and social welfare facilities, and the funds were allocated through the Community Chest of Korea to the Seoul Welfare Foundation, Nowon Education Welfare Foundation, and others to support low-income household assistance projects.
Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I thank the residents who share warmth with their neighbors despite the economic downturn,” and added, “I hope many residents will participate again this year to create a warm winter together with those around them.”
