Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho Joint Inspection of Harmful Environments for Youth on College Entrance Exam Day

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) conducted a joint public-private inspection on the 14th around Konkuk University Station, an area with many youth-harmful establishments, to check the harmful environment for adolescents.

This proactive response aims to prevent delinquency and deviation among adolescents who have relaxed their tension after the College Scholastic Ability Test and to protect them from harmful environments.

The joint inspection involved about 40 people from Gwangjin-gu Office, Gwangjin Police Station, and the Youth Harmful Environment Monitoring Group, working together for three hours from 6 p.m. on the test day, the 14th. They thoroughly examined establishments around Konkuk University, including bars, entertainment pubs, room cafes, as well as comic cafes and board game cafes, known as new places of deviation.

The main inspection items included ▲whether establishments prohibit youth entry and employment ▲whether youth-harmful signs are posted ▲sales of alcohol and tobacco to adolescents ▲violations of the Youth Protection Act such as hidden cameras installed in restrooms. They focused on checking whether adolescents actually enter or are employed at these places.

Additionally, campaigns were conducted to prevent gambling and drug addiction by distributing promotional materials and collecting illegal flyers.

The district plans to continue joint inspections and patrols to preemptively block adolescent deviation. If violations of the Youth Protection Act are found, strong measures such as correction orders and fines will be imposed.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “This is a period when adolescents can easily fall into the temptation of harmful environments after the test. I hope this joint campaign will greatly help prevent deviation.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that adolescents grow up safely and healthily.”
