The event was attended by about 60 people, including Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun and other officials, and proceeded in the order of certificate presentation, greetings, commemorative photo session, and self-introductions by the committee members.

The Galmae-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee was launched in 2004 as the Galmae-dong Residents' Autonomy Council to promote neighborhood development through resident-led community management. In 2022, it was converted into the second residents' autonomy committee in Guri City following Sutaek 3-dong, forming the 1st committee which successfully operated autonomous projects such as the Galmae Family Unity Walking Festival and the Galmae Love Children's Art Contest over the past two years.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, “I hope that the new committee members actively participate in autonomy activities as true volunteers for the development of the community and the residents, further revitalizing the residents' autonomy that previous committee members have nurtured and developed over the past 20 years.”

The 2nd Galmae-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee plans to hold a residents' general meeting in 2025, a forum for gathering residents' opinions, after completing internal administrative procedures such as electing executives and establishing an annual operation plan. They will discover and promote various autonomous projects related to residents' daily lives, including culture, education, arts, and environment.
