At the meeting, both parties agreed to jointly develop scholarship programs that provide practical support to the children of Gyeonggi Province residents and Gwangju citizens. They also pledged to make joint efforts to reorganize and revitalize the Gwangju Citizens' Association.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan emphasized, "Historically, Gwangju has been a center for ceramic production. In the 17th century during the Joseon Dynasty, items such as the Dangcho-mun plates, Cheolhwa-yongmun jars, and Baekja moon jars were sold at New York Christie's auction for 3.3 billion KRW and 9.9 billion KRW respectively." He added, "Gwangju was home to a branch of the Saongwon, which supplied ceramics to the royal court, and we will put more effort into promoting ceramic art and the ceramic industry."
In response, Chairman Yoo promised, "Together with Mayor Bang Se-hwan, we will cooperate to promote various cultural industries, including ceramic art, based on the historical background of the Gwangju region."
Meanwhile, Gwangju is a city with very high growth potential and is expected to rapidly grow into a metropolitan city with a population exceeding 500,000 soon. The foundation plans to explore support measures and prepare concrete plans to promote regional development.
