Opening of the Jeonbuk Hamkkehan Georeum Center for Drug Addiction Rehabilitation

New Name for 'Mayakryu Addiction Rehabilitation Center'
Support for Customized Services for Social Reintegration
"An Important Step in Solving Drug Problems"

Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 15th that the 'Jeonbuk Hamkkehan Georeum Center,' which strengthens post-management of drug addicts and supports healthy social reintegration, has newly opened.

The 'Hamkkehan Georeum Center' is the new name of the former 'Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Center' operated by the Korea Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters. It establishes a comprehensive recovery support system including early detection, counseling, and physical, psychological, and mental recovery of drug addicts to support their rehabilitation.

On the 15th, the Jeonbuk branch of the Korea Drug Eradication Movement Headquarters relocated, and the Jeonbuk Together Step Center opening ceremony was held. Provided by Jeonbuk Autonomous Province

Previously, there were only three centers in Seoul, Busan, and Daejeon, but this year they have been expanded to 17 nationwide. The center is responsible for the efficient operation of the 'Judicial-Treatment-Rehabilitation Linkage Model' that supports the social reintegration of drug offenders.

The opening ceremony was held at the Jeonbuk branch of the Korea Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters. Attendees included Park Yong-geun, Jeonbuk Provincial Assembly member; Lee Jeong-woo, Director of the Jeonbuk Provincial Health and Medical Department; Seo Guk-jin, Chairman of the Korea Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters; Baek Kyung-han, President of the Jeonbuk Pharmaceutical Association; and other officials related to drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation. The event proceeded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and facility tour.

Meanwhile, the province, together with the Jeonbuk branch of the Korea Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters, is conducting drug prevention publicity and education targeting all age groups. It designates and operates drug treatment protection institutions for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts and supports treatment costs. The relevant hospitals in the province are Wonkwang University Hospital, Maum Sarang Hospital, and Shinsegye Hospital.

Lee Jeong-woo, Director of the Health and Medical Department, said, "The opening of the Hamkkehan Georeum Center is an important step toward solving drug problems in the region," adding, "We will continue to do our best to provide drug prevention publicity and education to residents and support the healthy social rehabilitation of drug addicts."
