3-Day Youth Employment Support Event, 37 Companies and 2,525 Participants
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) held the ‘DSU On-site Connection Festa’ from the 12th to the 14th at the Jurye Campus and Centum Campus to support local youth in employment and career exploration.
The Festa featured recruitment briefings from a total of 15 companies, including Busan’s Cheongkkeul companies (Donghwa Entech and three others), Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Pulmuone Food & Culture, as well as job mentoring sessions by current employees from SK Hynix, Korea Technology Finance Corporation, and eight other companies and public institutions.
On the 13th, a job fair for the tourism and convention industry, including Air Busan and 12 other companies and public institutions, was held at the Centum Campus. Over the three days, a total of 37 companies visited Dongseo University to meet with young job seekers. Participants were able to gain practical employment information by receiving firsthand work experience and advice through job consultations with current employees in each field.
In particular, companies in the secondary battery industry, which has recently attracted attention, also participated. Alongside a briefing session by the university’s Secondary Battery Talent Development Bootcamp Project Group, there was a discussion on industry-academia cooperation plans to nurture talent in the secondary battery sector in Busan.
Additionally, promotional booths for youth employment policies from related organizations, as well as booths from university-led Ministry of Employment and Labor projects such as the University Job Plus Center, Work-Learning Dual System Joint Training Center, and K-Move Project Group, were operated, allowing job seekers to access information on various youth employment support policies.
Moreover, the event venue featured unique event zones such as personal color diagnosis and aromatherapy, providing participants with opportunities for self-exploration and recharging. Various food zones and prize events were also prepared to offer an enjoyable experience for attendees.
The event concluded successfully with a total of 2,525 young people participating: 2,415 at the Jurye Campus (843 for recruitment briefings, 492 for current employee job consultation booths, and 1,080 for employment support booths) and 110 at the Centum Campus current employee job consultation booths.
Providing Dongseo University students, graduates, and local youth with a valuable opportunity to directly experience desired job roles and company information on-site, the event served as an important time to motivate local youth for employment and foster regionally settled talent.
Jung Do-woon, Director of Dongseo University’s University Job Plus Center, said, “We hope that the 2024 DSU On-site Connection Festa will be a valuable opportunity to provide youth with diverse employment information and support,” adding, “We will continue to make multifaceted efforts to support youth employment and career development.”
