Wando-gun Selected for 'Youth Growth Support in Population Declining Areas' Contest

Ministry of Gender Equality and Family & Ministry of the Interior Secure '100 Million Won Project Budget'

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it has been selected for the ‘2025 Youth Growth Support Project in Population Declining Areas,’ jointly promoted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The ‘Youth Growth Support Project’ is a program that supports the healthy growth and development of youth in population-declining areas by installing infrastructure and operating programs linked to the Local Extinction Response Fund.

With the selection for the project, the county secured a total budget of 100 million KRW and plans to operate a program called ‘Wando Embracing the Sea.’

‘Wando Embracing the Sea’ is a program that operates a youth documentary filming team to understand Wando’s marine environment and ecosystem, and runs village explorations, busking, cultural performances, and family cinemas with island village youth and residents who have limited opportunities to experience cultural life due to the island setting.

In addition, cultural and sports activities aimed at enhancing youth self-esteem and social solidarity will also be conducted.

A county official stated, “We will do our best to ensure that this project becomes a foundation for youth to grow up healthy and happy,” and added, “We will continue to strive to provide rich and diverse programs for youth.”
