The promotion plan is based on the ‘Sustainable Development Basic Strategy 2040’ established last April and includes a system of detailed goals, indicators, and projects tailored to the region’s characteristics and circumstances. It reflects the value of sustainable development throughout the district administration by preparing detailed implementation plans.

In particular, the district set the vision of ‘Seo-gu, a sustainable development city where future generations are happy,’ with five strategies: ▲ Ecological community responding to the climate crisis ▲ Cultural community where everyone is happy and healthy ▲ Vibrant economic community through smart innovation ▲ Peaceful community that embraces everyone ▲ Autonomous community of participation and communication, along with 17 corresponding goals.

To establish the promotion plan, the district operated a public-private cooperation Sustainable Development TF team from June to October, conducting overall drafting and discussions. In July and September, the district also formed a resident participation group and subcommittees to reflect the opinions of resident representatives and stakeholders from various fields, resulting in a well-founded promotion plan.

Kim I-gang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “Based on the basic strategy and promotion plan established to respond to the changing environment, we will pursue sustainable policies,” and added, “Through policies related to sustainable development, we will embed the concept of sustainability into residents’ lives and take the lead in realizing Seo-gu as a good city where future generations are happy.”

Meanwhile, the administrative plans subject to pre-review in the second half of the year are the ‘Seo-gu Basic Plan for Human Rights Protection and Promotion’ and the ‘Five-Year Plan to Suppress Food Waste Generation in Seo-gu,’ which are scheduled for review next month.
