Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 15th that it held communication meetings by visiting Haengsin 3-dong and Pungsan-dong on the 12th and 14th, respectively.

Since the launch of the 8th civil administration, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan has held communication meetings every year to directly listen to residents' grievances and discuss major city issues. This year, starting with Daehwa-dong in July, he has been touring 27 neighborhoods within the region to continue his communication efforts with residents.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said, “Thanks to the continuous interest and support, Goyang City is developing day by day,” and added, “I hope this gathering today will serve as a stepping stone for the city’s greater leap forward, and I encourage you to share various opinions.”

At this meeting, suggestions were received including ▲ repair of facilities at Bamnamu Park ▲ creation of a loess road and maintenance of aging facilities in Garasan Park ▲ sharing the progress of route adjustment for village bus No. 020 ▲ and increasing the number of buses on route 84.

In response, the city’s Park Management Division stated that repairs of aging facilities will be completed by the first half of next year. However, regarding the loess road, they asked for residents’ understanding as it is currently difficult to create due to the steep slope and uneven ground in the relevant section.

Also, the city’s Bus Policy Division said that concerning the increase of route 84 buses, four buses will be operated from the end of this year, two more than before, to alleviate residents’ difficulties. Regarding the route adjustment of bus No. 020, since opinions among local residents are sharply divided, they will reconsider from scratch to find the most reasonable solution.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan stated that residents’ diverse opinions will be thoroughly reviewed and actively reflected in city administration, and he repeatedly urged the relevant departments to ensure that no valuable opinions from residents are overlooked.

Goyang City plans to continue the communication meetings by visiting three neighborhoods, including Jeongbalsan-dong, by the end of this month.
