On the 85th anniversary of the "Day of the Patriotic Martyrs" on the 15th, the People Power Party of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly pledged to "deeply remember the sacrifice and dedication of the patriotic martyrs."
The People Power Party of the Gyeonggi Assembly issued a statement saying, "It is already the 85th anniversary of the 'Day of the Patriotic Martyrs.' We pray for the souls of the martyrs who laid the foundation of the Republic of Korea through their sacrifice and dedication, and express our gratitude to the independence activists and their families."
They continued, "The strong will and noble dedication to reclaim the lost homeland against Japan's colonial rule became a solid foundation for liberal democracy. Because there were patriots who risked their lives and shouted 'Long live Korean independence' even in foreign lands far from our country, we exist today, and the Republic of Korea exists," expressing their gratitude.
In particular, they emphasized, "The People Power Party of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly will remember and honor the patriotic martyrs for a long time and reflect on their noble spirit," adding, "We will not forget that today's pride and self-esteem originate from the sacrifice and dedication of the patriotic martyrs."
They also stated, "This year, the government relocated the remains of six patriotic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Gojuri, Hwaseong City, to the National Cemetery after 105 years," and said, "The People Power Party will remember the painful history of the patriotic martyrs and do its utmost to ensure that there is no neglect in providing appropriate honors and support to the families of veterans."
Furthermore, they added, "We will properly educate future generations so that the passionate love for the country can be inherited and honored," and concluded by saying, "Once again, we pray for the souls of the patriotic martyrs and pay our respects to the families and independence activists."
