Uiryeong Education Vision, Communication, and Capacity Building

On the 15th, the Uiryeong Office of Education in Gyeongnam conducted a training session for about 40 members of the operation committees of public single-establishment kindergartens and elementary, middle, high, and special schools in the district under the theme "Future Schools and Shared Education."

This year, for the first time, the Uiryeong Office of Education was designated as a pilot education support office for the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education's "Campus-type Joint Schools," promoting a collaborative future education system called 「Shared Education」 to activate joint curriculum operations among schools. Currently, 11 elementary schools and 2 middle schools in the district are divided into 4 zones, operating classes and after-school programs tailored to the conditions of each zone.

Through this training, an opportunity was provided to help understand this future education system, 「Shared Education」, and to share and communicate various opinions within the educational community.

Kim Daewon, chairman of the Uiryeong Regional Council, expressed, "In the reality where the number of students is continuously decreasing, shared education can leverage the strengths of small schools while overcoming the limitations of small-scale educational activities, raising high expectations among parents. It is very proud that this new future education system is being piloted in our region."

Superintendent Kwon Soonhee stated, "We expect that the children of Uiryeong will greatly benefit in social development through the distinctive curriculum of small schools and shared education, based on cooperative and community experiences that might be limited in small schools. I express deep respect and gratitude for the school operation committees playing a pivotal role in the school community on the ground, and I will strive to enhance communication with the school operation committees."
