Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on the 15th that it will change the name of the ‘TIGER Global BBIG Active ETF’ to ‘TIGER Global Innovation Active ETF.’
The ‘TIGER Global Innovation Active ETF’ is an active ETF that invests in global innovative technology companies leading mega trends such as artificial intelligence (AI). As convergence technologies that break down the boundaries of traditional industries emerge, this ETF focuses on themes rather than industries and invests broadly in small and mid-cap stocks through ultra-diversified investment using EMP (ETF Management Portfolio).
Mirae Asset Global Investments plans to expand its investment targets beyond the mainstream innovative technologies represented by BBIG (secondary batteries, bio, internet, games) to early-stage innovative technologies such as quantum computing through this change. This is expected to quickly reflect market trends and realize a broader active management capability.
Since investing in early-stage innovative technologies in only a few companies involves significant risk, the ETF diversifies broadly across themes through EMP. This reduces individual company risk and enhances portfolio stability, making it effective for long-term investment.
The ‘TIGER Global Innovation Active ETF,’ which has a high proportion of small and mid-cap stocks, is expected to benefit from corporate tax cuts and deregulation under the U.S. Trump administration. The arrival of an interest rate cut cycle also positively supports the strong performance of small and mid-cap technology theme investments.
Jung Hee-seok, head of the EMP management team at Mirae Asset Global Investments, said, "As investor interest in the BBIG theme declines and industry growth somewhat stagnates, we plan to quickly reflect market trends through the ETF name change and expansion of investment targets," adding, "We will present an active management strategy that reduces risk through ultra-diversified investment via EMP and follows the growth potential of the relevant industries."
