Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 15th that it has donated the Ioniq 5 to the world's largest humanitarian aid organization, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
At the vehicle handover ceremony held on the 14th (local time) at the WFP Dubai vehicle base in the United Arab Emirates, executives including Hyundai Motor Executive Vice President Hangsoo Lee, Senior Vice President Hyunsook Hur, WFP Director of Government Donor Relations Sarah Adam, and WFP Middle East Regional Director Steven Anderson attended.
WFP is a United Nations food aid agency established to eradicate hunger in developing countries. It strives to achieve a world without hunger by 2030 and realize the 'Zero Hunger' goal where no one goes hungry.
In July, Hyundai Motor and WFP signed a mobility sector partnership to support the transition to eco-friendly mobility for UN operational vehicles and jointly achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This vehicle handover ceremony is the first official event since the partnership was signed in July. Hyundai Motor donated one Ioniq 5 each to the WFP global offices in Rome headquarters, Egypt, Panama, South Africa, the Philippines, and Thailand, and two Ioniq 5 vehicles to the vehicle base located in the United Arab Emirates as operational vehicles. In particular, the Ioniq 5 delivered to the North Africa and Middle East regional office located in Cairo, Egypt, is expected to support rapid and efficient aid in food crisis areas caused by conflicts.
Additionally, Hyundai Motor installed charging facilities at the global offices that received the Ioniq 5 and completed donations for the establishment of renewable energy systems.
A Hyundai Motor official stated, "We will continue to do our best with WFP to prepare for and resolve the global food crisis and climate change challenges facing humanity."
