Recognized for Contributions to Promoting Community Sports and Expanding Sports Infrastructure
Guri City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 14th that Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri City received the Sports Administration Leader Award at the ‘2024 Korea Sports Promotion Awards’ ceremony held on the 13th.
The ‘Korea Sports Promotion Awards’ is an event hosted by Sports Dong-A and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon), the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (Chairman Lee Ki-hong), and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (Chairman Jo Hyun-jae).
Now in its 6th year, this event was established to discover and honor outstanding contributors such as sports-related organizations, companies, brands, and local governments that have contributed to the development and revitalization of sports in Korea.
Guri City was recognized for its contributions to promoting community sports and securing sports infrastructure through various projects, including support for activating citizen sports by discipline, coaching support for one person one sport, expansion of elementary sports clubs, the opening of Galmae Multi-Sports Center, construction of Geombae Sports Culture Center, creation of Wangsukcheon Jokgu Field, and development of Inchang and Acheon Park Golf Courses, leading to the award.
