Daegu City attracted three small but strong water technology companies with excellent technology to the Dalseong-gun National Water Industry Cluster Enterprise Complex and signed an investment agreement at EXCO on the 14th. The three attracted companies are Namu Co., Ltd., J-Tech Water Co., Ltd., and Naegang Industry Co., Ltd.
These promising technology companies will establish manufacturing plants within the National Water Industry Cluster. They plan to invest a total of 21 billion KRW to build production lines on a 23,000㎡ (7,100 pyeong) site and begin full-scale operations from 2025.
By creating about 50 new jobs, they will contribute to revitalizing the local economy and creating employment. Daegu City plans to support the growth of these companies through full-cycle support projects, from water company technology development to certification, commercialization, and overseas expansion.
Namu Co., Ltd., headquartered in Gyeongju, is a company that designs and constructs water landscape facilities and produces water treatment purification devices. It holds several patents in the water industry field, including water purification devices, ozone sterilizers, chlorine sterilization systems, and automatic drainage systems. Its representative product, the water treatment purification device, can filter down to 0.5㎛, demonstrating excellent filtration performance, and can be used both underwater and on land, making it applicable to various water landscape facilities.
J-Tech Water Co., Ltd. is a manufacturer of water treatment devices specializing in disinfection for water supply and sewage. Its representative product, the on-site generated electrolyzed circulating sodium hypochlorite generator, is installed at sites requiring chlorine disinfection. It produces low-concentration hypochlorous acid solution by electrolyzing salt, environmentally disinfecting tap water. This technology led to the company being selected as an excellent R&D performance company by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2020.
J-Tech Water already has an existing production plant in the National Water Industry Cluster but is acquiring additional land to establish a new production plant to expand its business not only in the water supply sector, which was its main focus, but also in the sewage sector.
Naegang Industry Co., Ltd., established in 2022, is a relatively young company but provides total solutions in the sluice gate hoist field based on technology and know-how accumulated over more than ten years in the same industry. It developed technology for remote control of sluice gate hoists using IoT-based sensors and a video monitoring system, enabling rapid response to disaster accidents.
With the additional attraction of these three water companies, Daegu City has attracted a total of 40 water companies to the National Water Industry Cluster Enterprise Complex this year, showing a sales rate of about 72% based on site area.
Ji Hyeong-jae, Director of the Environment and Water Resources Bureau of Daegu City, said, “Although the three companies attracted this time are not large in scale, they possess differentiated technology and a strong will for technology development, and they have great growth potential as small but strong companies that can lead overseas markets in the future.” He added, “Daegu City, together with the National Water Industry Cluster and the Korea Water Technology Certification Institute, will actively support these companies to grow into global enterprises.”
