Held Inauguration Ceremony on the 8th and Started Public Service Activities
The University Student Public Interest Detective Team (Leader Baek Woon-yong), composed of students majoring in Police Crime Psychology at the College of Future Convergence, Pukyong National University, held its inauguration ceremony at Hyangpagan on the 8th.
The University Student Public Interest Detective Team was formed as a purely volunteer organization centered on university students (adult learners) who have obtained detective certification. Going forward, they plan to carry out activities such as campus crime prevention patrols, diagnosis of sexual violence crime prevention, and investigation of students' grievances.
They will secure expertise through education, training, and workshops to acquire private investigation techniques and knowledge. At the school, they will systematically acquire knowledge about detectives and private investigations by completing specialized courses such as criminology, criminal psychology, crime prevention theory, police investigation theory, forensic science practice, detective studies, and detective case studies.
Leader Baek Woon-yong stated, “As adult learner university students, we plan to perform all private investigation activities free of charge,” adding, “We aim to gain sufficient experience through public interest activities during our university life and are also considering starting a detective agency after graduation.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by external experts including Professor Ra Kwang-hyun from Dong-A University’s Department of Police Studies, Professor Choi Jun-ho from the Investigation Department of the Central Police Academy, and psychological counselor Lee Seung-wook from Busan Correctional Institution, as well as Professors Son Oe-cheol and Ham Hye-hyun from Pukyong National University’s Police Crime Psychology Department.
The University Student Public Interest Detective Team plans to maximize the professionalism and legality of private investigation activities by appointing alumnus Oh Moon-sik, who started a detective agency after graduation, as an advisory committee member, and lawyer Byun Jun-seok of the law firm PK as the advisory committee chair.
Advisor Professor Ham Hye-hyun of the University Student Public Interest Detective Team said, “We expect that students themselves will have the function to explore and purify various problems occurring on campus, creating an atmosphere where they can focus on their studies with peace of mind.” He added, “In particular, we anticipate students’ self-purification efforts regarding recent youth issues such as drug problems and human rights violations like deepfakes, and we will actively cooperate with the Busan Police Agency, the Autonomous Police Committee, and the Office of Education in the context of realizing a glocal university.”
