Changwon Special City, Changwon Volunteer Association Unity Pledge Event Successfully Held

Mayor Hong Nampyo: "May Changwon Special City Become a Driving Force for Warmer and Happier Growth"

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 2024 Changwon Volunteer Association Unity Pledge Event with the participation of about 300 members of the Changwon Volunteer Association.

The event, held on the afternoon of the 13th, was attended by Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Son Taehwa, Chairman of the Changwon Special City Council, as well as provincial and city council members. The event consisted of a first part commemorative ceremony and a second part unity gathering to inspire pride among volunteers.


During the commemorative ceremony, 21 outstanding volunteers who actively engaged in volunteer activities throughout the year and contributed to fostering a warm community atmosphere were awarded plaques and certificates of appreciation. The second part of the event was a meaningful unity gathering aimed at promoting friendship and solidarity among members.


Oh Myungja, President of the Changwon Volunteer Association, said in her address, “I would like to thank the members who have taken the lead in volunteer activities for the marginalized neighbors in our community. I hope today’s Unity Pledge Event will serve as an opportunity for our members to join forces and expand sharing activities for our region.”


Mayor Hong Nampyo stated, “Thank you for being a strong support for the underprivileged neighbors and the community through your long-term volunteer work. I hope you will continue to practice sharing and become a driving force for Changwon Special City to grow warmer and happier.”


Meanwhile, the Changwon Volunteer Association was established in October 1986 and currently has about 420 members across 15 towns, townships, and neighborhoods in Uichang-gu and Seongsan-gu. The association actively carries out volunteer activities for community development in various fields, including helping low-income and marginalized neighbors, organizing senior citizen feasts, and supporting side dish provision projects.
