Yangju Mayor Kang Su-hyun Visits 'Elderly Living Alone' Homes... Communication-Focused Administration Draws Attention

Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju City attracted attention by continuing the path of ‘communication administration’ by visiting single elderly households with the head of the Social Welfare Division and the Baekseok-eup chief on the 13th, ahead of the upcoming cold winter, to check on their well-being.

On that day, Mayor Kang directly listened to the difficulties of the elderly on site and provided guidance on winter safety and health-related matters.

He then instructed the relevant departments to prepare measures to resolve difficulties by linking various welfare and support administrative services being carried out by the city to help the elderly have a warm winter.

Since taking office in July 2022, Mayor Kang Su-hyun is known to have visited a total of 33 single elderly households to provide tailored welfare services for the elderly, such as connecting necessary support projects, improving living environments, and supplying sponsored goods.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun said, “Visiting vulnerable households has become an opportunity to understand the difficulties of various citizens,” adding, “Based on this, we will not only prepare diverse welfare policies but also do our best to ensure that citizens can spend a healthy and happy old age.”

Meanwhile, the city is conducting home visits to discover welfare blind spots and listen to the welfare needs of single elderly and vulnerable groups. These visits are carried out together with the eup, myeon, and dong chiefs who serve as honorary managers, creating opportunities for the elderly and vulnerable groups to experience practical welfare.
