Broadcaster Kim Byung-man denied the allegations of "habitual assault" made by his ex-wife, and it was revealed that he belatedly discovered about 20 life insurance policies under his name.
On the 13th, a video titled "Kim Byung-man's Actual Reaction After Confirming Death Insurance, Background of Ex-Wife's Allegations Revealed by Lawyer" was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho.' In the video, Kim Byung-man's legal representative, lawyer Im Sa-ra, appeared personally to address the controversy surrounding him. Lawyer Im said, "Kim Byung-man is currently very bewildered by his ex-wife's sudden allegations," adding, "He was especially shocked because the allegations surfaced as the case was concluding." She continued, "Personally, I think Kim Byung-man's active broadcasting activities might have emotionally triggered such actions," and speculated, "There are still outstanding debts, which might have also influenced the situation."

She explained, "The ex-wife had taken out 24 insurance policies under Kim Byung-man's name, most of which were death insurance policies," adding, "There are some investment and pension insurances mixed in, but these are also close to whole life insurance, so they are considered death insurance." She further elaborated, "Although the names differ, the structure is such that if the insured dies, the insurance money goes to the beneficiary or heir, so there is little difference from death insurance." Most of the beneficiaries of these policies were the ex-wife, and some were the ex-wife's biological daughter and Kim Byung-man's adopted daughter. Conversely, the beneficiaries of insurance policies under the ex-wife's name were not Kim Byung-man. Lawyer Im stated, "Kim Byung-man was completely unaware of the insurance policies until the divorce lawsuit," explaining, "During the divorce proceedings, financial transaction information is ordered to be submitted to identify each other's assets, and that was when he found out." She also said, "At the time of the divorce lawsuit, Kim Byung-man was filming in a remote and dangerous overseas location," adding, "Considering that someone might be waiting for his death, going to such a remote area must have been really difficult."
She mentioned, "Currently, the person listed as Kim Byung-man's child on the family register is the daughter born to the ex-wife and her previous husband," explaining, "Kim Byung-man adopted her as his own child when he married the ex-wife, but since adoption can only be revoked through court, he had no choice but to file a lawsuit for revocation." She also said, "The daughter is now an adult and a university student," and explained, "Kim Byung-man might remarry and have children, so he probably wanted to organize things with that future in mind." Finally, she stated, "The day the ex-wife claimed assault was when Kim Byung-man was not in the country due to filming SBS's 'Law of the Jungle.' This was proven with immigration records," adding, "Some people misunderstand the case because it was sent to the prosecution, but domestic violence cases are always sent to the prosecution. A non-prosecution opinion has already been issued."
