Experience Event for Wonheung Kindergarten Children Conducted by Goyang City Local Food Research Association Through Talent Donation

The Agricultural Technology Center of Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 14th that it conducted a traditional food experience of making glutinous rice gochujang in collaboration with Wonheung Kindergarten on the 12th.

This experience was carried out through the talent donation of 24 members of the Goyang Local Food Research Association, who made traditional gochujang with 15 children, promoting the value of local cuisine.


The Goyang local food development project is funded by the 2024 regional return profit reserve, and besides this gochujang making experience, the Local Food Research Association also volunteered to share side dishes with 180 people over four sessions from June 11 to July 9.


As part of regional coexistence and sharing practices, they directly made and delivered yeolmu kimchi, kongjaban, braised short ribs, and bulgogi to local children's centers, and also promoted making nut glutinous rice cakes with children to provide healthy food experiences using local agricultural products.


Kim Jeong-im, president of the Goyang Local Food Research Association, said, “Taste preferences formed in early childhood influence a lifetime,” adding, “It was rewarding to have an opportunity to spread the value of local food through the traditional gochujang making experience.”


A Goyang Special City official stated, “We believe this is a great opportunity for the Local Food Research Association, which leads the promotion of local agricultural product consumption and healthy food culture, to participate in social contribution through talent donation,” and added, “We will continue to promote the development of local food to expand the value of local cuisine and revitalize local agricultural products.”
