Immediately after their appointment, the three newly designated ambassadors participated in a tea meeting with Mayor Lee Chungwoo, where they emphasized their personal connections to Yeoju and pledged to play an active role moving forward.
Shim Hyunseop is a renowned comedian who debuted in 1994 on MBC's "Sunday Night" and went on to lead new trends in comedy through programs such as KBS's "Gag Concert" and SBS's "People Looking for a Laugh." In addition to his ongoing work as a comedian, he has also taken on serious acting roles in various dramas and has hosted radio programs for many years, demonstrating his versatility across multiple fields. Furthermore, as a member of the Cheongsong Shim clan and a direct descendant of Queen Soheon, who rests alongside King Sejong at Yeongneung, Shim Hyunseop highlighted his special connection and affection for Yeoju.
Choi Hongrim made his entertainment debut in 1987 through the MBC University Comedy Festival and has since appeared regularly on shows such as MBC's "Sunday Night," "Youth March," and MBN's "Dongchimi." He is currently an active regular panelist on SBS's "Good Morning." In addition, Choi Hongrim is a certified professional golfer, having passed the KPGA pro test, and hosts various golf-related programs. This makes him a fitting ambassador for Yeoju, a city renowned as a top destination for golf enthusiasts and leisure tourism.
Han Sooyoung, who is active both as a singer-songwriter and a trot singer, made her debut in 2009 with the single album "In Your Heart" and has since continued to release albums and drama OSTs, maintaining a prolific career. Beyond her own music, she is also a hit-making producer, having written, composed, and produced songs such as "Yongdaetguna" by trot audition star Na Taejoo, "Route 7" by Jang Minho, "Rich" by Kim Heejae, "You Could Be a Singer" by Choi Hongrim, and "Where Is My Phone" by Lee Saebyeok.
Lee Chungwoo, Mayor of Yeoju, stated, "It is truly meaningful to have Shim Hyunseop, Choi Hongrim, and Han Sooyoung, who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in the performing arts and cultural sectors, serve as our promotional ambassadors. We have high expectations for the significant roles they will play as ambassadors for Yeoju, a city preparing for a new leap forward as a cultural tourism destination."
