In October, Uijeongbu City and the Uijeongbu Police Station selected public restrooms with a high risk of crime within the jurisdiction as installation targets through meetings and discussed the design and installation schedule of the building number plates.
As a result of the consultation, the city took charge of supervising and managing the installation of the building number plates before and after, while the Uijeongbu Police Station cooperated by fully supporting the budget for the project.
The installed solar-powered LED building number plates absorb solar heat during the day and automatically light up at night, allowing the building numbers to be clearly visible even in the dark. In particular, they are eco-friendly as they use solar energy without electricity and can be used semi-permanently.
The public restrooms are equipped with emergency safety bells and closed-circuit televisions (CCTV), and by installing building number plates that can be identified at night, the crime prevention effect has been enhanced. After the pilot installation of the solar-powered LED building number plates, additional installations are planned depending on citizen satisfaction.
Kim Jeong-seop, Director of the Land Information Division, said, “We will continue to make efforts to improve citizens’ living environment and create a safer Uijeongbu City by cooperating with various community institutions such as the police station to install address information facilities in the right places.”
