Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province has joined hands with the government of Laos to secure the insufficient rural workforce.
On the 14th, Anseong City announced that earlier this month, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the introduction of foreign seasonal workers at the Ministry of Labor, Social Welfare conference room in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.

This MOU was made as part of diversifying the countries sending seasonal workers to flexibly respond to restrictions caused by political changes in sending countries and unauthorized absences of workers. In the case of Laos, about 6,000 seasonal workers were dispatched to Korea this year.
An official from Anseong City said, "This MOU will enable us to promptly respond to the increasing demand for foreign seasonal workers," adding, "We hope that this agreement will serve as a stepping stone to expand exchanges between the two countries into economic and cultural fields."
