Top 10% Writers Approaching Monthly Average Sales of 20 Million KRW
Backpacker announced on the 14th that the sales volume per seller (artist) approximately doubled after the handmade commerce platform, Idus, implemented a full free shipping policy.
In June, Idus reduced the sales commission from the previous 22% to below 15% and implemented a full free shipping policy. They conducted surveys and held three meetings to reflect the opinions of the resident artists in the policy revision, and operated a three-month guidance period before the policy was implemented.
Since the implementation of the free shipping policy, purchases by Idus customers have steadily increased, and as of October, the average sales per artist compared to the total sales of Idus grew by 98% compared to the first half of this year. Through this, the top 10% of Idus artists are trending toward a monthly average sales amount approaching 20 million KRW.
Along with this, the 'purchase conversion rate,' which measures customers who viewed products and completed purchases, increased by 52% compared to the first half of this year, and the ‘repurchase rate’ of customers who made their first purchase after signing up has continuously risen for more than three months compared to the same period last year.
Kim Dong-hwan, CEO of Backpacker, said, “Idus has grown beyond a simple artwork trading platform to form a handmade culture that recognizes the value of creation and sincerity,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen various support measures such as commission reductions for emerging artists, marketing support, and improvements to the creative environment so that artists can work in better conditions.”
