Discussion on Interim Report Meeting for Basic Plan Establishment Service
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 14th that it held the "2026 Pre Wando Seaweed Expo Basic Plan Establishment Service Mid-term Report Meeting" at the county office situation room on the 12th.
The "2026 Pre Wando Seaweed Expo" is a preliminary event aimed at re-evaluating the value of seaweed and creating momentum for hosting the "2028 International Seaweed Expo." It is planned to be held in May 2026.

About 30 people, including Shin Woo-cheol, the governor of Wando-gun, members of the county council, and related officials, attended the report meeting to review the progress of the expo's basic plan.
The expo is being prepared in a Pre-EXPO format, and the service performing organization reported on the conditions for holding the expo, the basic concept, the event site construction plan, content, and detailed programs. In particular, discussions were held on re-creating the value of Wando-gun's comparative advantage resources such as marine healing and the marine bio-industry.
The county plans to further specify and promote the expo plan based on the report once the basic plan establishment service is completed by the end of January next year.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol emphasized, "We will devote ourselves to preparing the expo to lay the foundation for hosting the 2028 International Seaweed Expo and to promote Wando-gun as the center of the domestic seaweed industry," adding, "A differentiated strategy unique to Wando is necessary."
Meanwhile, Wando-gun is currently promoting the "2028 International Seaweed Expo Basic Plan Establishment and Feasibility Study Service" to prepare the necessary plans for international event approval, aiming to host the "2028 International Seaweed Expo."
